BMAT STEM Academy was delighted to welcome Lily, a first-year medical student, who spent time with students discussing her journey into medicine and sharing first-hand advice about what it takes to successfully apply for medical school.

Organised by Callie Dennis, Future Pathways Lead, the visit gave students a valuable opportunity to hear about the UCAT process, university applications, the challenges of applying for medicine and the steps students can take now to give themselves the strongest possible chance of success.

The session was particularly valuable for students already considering careers in medicine and healthcare. Dmitrijs Gracovs, one of Dr Cameron’s students and an aspiring medic, explained:

"Thank you very much for the talk. It gave me a real insight into the UCAT process and applications to different universities. It also helped me understand more about what universities are looking for and the actions I need to take when applying. As someone who wants to go into medicine, this was an amazing opportunity to receive guidance and first-hand insight into the course and career I hope to pursue."

Visits like this are an important part of what makes the experience at BMAT STEM Academy different. As a University Technical College, we want our students to have far more than classroom learning.
