A-level results day has marked an important milestone for students at BMAT STEM Academy in Harlow, as they received the grades they have worked towards throughout their sixth form studies.

For many students, today marks the beginning of the next stage in education and careers closely connected to the STEM subjects and specialist pathways they have pursued at the Academy. Their destinations reflect the knowledge, technical skills and practical experience they have developed during their time at BMAT STEM Academy, with students progressing to universities, degree apprenticeships and employment across areas including engineering, architecture, mathematics, computing and the wider STEM sector.

Through a combination of academic study, technical education and opportunities to gain experience with industry, students have been able to develop a strong foundation for their chosen futures. This is reflected in the range of destinations secured by this year’s cohort, including university courses and apprenticeships that build directly on the skills and experiences gained at the Academy.

• Arthur Hawkins — Distinction* and Distinction in Engineering and Business — achieved his results and has secured an Electromagnetic Engineering Apprenticeship with Princeps, one of STEM Academy’s employer sponsors. Arthur first worked with Princeps through work experience secured by STEM in Year 10, followed by further experience in Year 12, which has now led to an apprenticeship with the company.
   
• Elliot Hogg — A, A and B in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, alongside a Distinction* in Engineering — achieved an excellent set of results and will now study Mathematics at Loughborough University.
   
• Tasnim Zarin — achieved a Distinction in 3D Design and will now study Architecture at the University of Greenwich, having received an upgraded offer following performance above her predicted grades.
   
• Alex Collinson — achieved a Distinction in Engineering and will now study Architecture at the University of Greenwich, having received an upgraded offer following performance above his predicted grades.
   
• Spencer Stapleton — achieved an A in Computer Science, alongside A Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics — received his results and will now progress to university to study Software Engineering.
   
• Ollie Ellis — Double Distinction in Engineering alongside a Merit in 3D Design — achieved his results and is now looking to progress into a STEM-related apprenticeship, with confirmation of his next steps expected shortly.
   
• Mollie Chadwick — Double Distinction in Engineering alongside a Merit in Business Studies — achieved her results and has secured a place at the University of Hertfordshire to study Mass Communications.
   
• Rebeka Jackuna — Double Distinction in 3D Design alongside a C in A Level English — achieved her results and has secured a place to complete an Art Foundation Year, with the ambition of progressing to university to study Fine Art.
   
• Tayler Lloyd — Distinction Merit in Engineering alongside a Merit in Business — achieved his results and has secured a place at the University of Brighton to study Aerospace Engineering.
   
• William Hobbs — achieved A Levels in Chemistry, Physics and Maths alongside BTEC Engineering — received his results and has secured a place at the University of Hertfordshire to study Audio Engineering.
   
• Honey Mein — achieved A Levels in Maths, Chemistry and Biology — received her results and has secured a place at Anglia Ruskin University to study Pharmaceutical Science.

Mitesh Thaker, Head of Academy said: " I am incredibly proud of our Year 13 students and the results they have achieved. These outcomes reflect their hard work, determination and resilience, alongside the commitment of our staff who have supported them throughout their time at STEM.

"It is particularly pleasing that the vast majority of our students have secured their next steps, progressing through offers to university or apprenticeships, including exciting pathways in mathematics and a variety of engineering fields. I wish every one of them the very best as they embark on the next stage of their journey."

These results are the reward for their determination, resilience, and hard work, and they reflect the commitment they have shown throughout their time with us.

We are delighted to see our students progressing to university, apprenticeships, and a wide range of other opportunities, taking with them the skills, knowledge, and ambition needed to succeed in their chosen paths.

The destinations of this year’s students reflect the breadth of opportunities available through STEM Academy, with students progressing into university courses, apprenticeships and careers across engineering, architecture, mathematics, software engineering, communications, fine art, aerospace, audio engineering and pharmaceutical science.

STEM Academy’s employer partnerships have also continued to create valuable pathways into industry, with Arthur Hawkins’ apprenticeship with Princeps providing a strong example of how work experience and sustained engagement with employers can lead directly to future career opportunities.
